Despite its relatively young age, WeTheNorth managed to attract a lot of attention in the Canadian region. This was really boosted by the fact that at the time the largest regional market, known as CanadaHQ shut down. This resulted in countless vendors quickly migrating despite the risks of a young market. Being based in Canada, the market is available in both English and French.
Design wise it is not innovative, nor unique, but instead very familiar. It features the same theme as the infamous AlphaBay marketplace which many users appreciate. Despite not being the most modern or pleasing design, its great for its job. The interface is also simple enough for anyone to use. Still, there are some issues with the websites scaling and fonts not loading. We hope these are addressed in the future.
Transactions and Security.
When placing an order on WeTheNorth market, payments can be made using Bitcoin (BTC) or Monero (XMR). We recommend using monero for added security. All funds have to be deposited into a built in wallet with no direct payment options. Funds are always protected using traditional escrow. No early finalization is supported. Security wise, the market is a bit more serious. All communications taking place on the market have to be encrypted using PGP encryption. Unfortunately that ends there, as no 2FA support seems to be present.
Additional Features.
As expected, a traditional rating system is in place to help users avoid any scammers. Vendors also receive a “level” rank based on their reputation. One notable feature of WeTheNorth is that it can be accessed through the normal internet using a standard domain. Despite the safety concerns, users seem to like that convinience.
Additionally the WeTheNorth market features a built in autoshop. An autoshop, automatically and instantly provides digital goods to the customer upon purchase. Conclusion
Overall WeTheNorth seems to be a great marketplace. There are some improvements that could be made to the design and some features that should be added. Most notably 2FA support, Early Finalization, and Multisig escrow. With all that it will be a fully featured marketplace. But ignoring the minor setbacks, the market seems to be doing great in the region, with many new listings daily, and great user reviews.
